The Sharp 1/3.7-type RJ642A10000Q CMOS device is a single camera unit integrating a high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor with on-board image processing circuitry and a lens inside a dustproof and waterproof enclosure with an attached video output cable. Due to its compact size and thin profile, it can be installed without interfering with the design aesthetics of the vehicle. When connected to a car navigation system or LCD monitor, guide lines can be overlaid on the display to indicate the vehicle width.

The end of Toshiba incandescent bulb production will lead to 430000 tons of carbon dioxide reduction
Incandescent-Bulb.jpg Toshiba and Toshiba Lighting and Technology, today marked the end of production of general-use incandescent bulbs, a product which Toshiba was first to manufacture in Japan and that it has produced for 120 years. In 1890, Ichisuke Fujioka, one of the leading engineers at the time, established Hakunetsu-sha & Co., Ltd., one of the companies that eventually merged with Toshiba, as Japan's first manufacturer of incandescent lamp bulbs. From an initial production of only 10 bulbs a day, production climbed to a peak of 78 million a year, and cumulative shipments to date add up to 4.07 billion bulbs. The end of incandescent bulb production comes a year ahead of Toshiba’s original plan, and will lead to total of 430,000 tons of carbon dioxide reduction.

Epson launches multi-camera analog interface IC for automotive applications
epson_multi_camera.jpg Epson has begun shipping samples of the S2D13P04, a new multi-camera analog interface IC for automotive applications. The new Epson S2D13P04 IC can combine images from multiple sides of the vehicle, helping to eliminate blind spots and enabling a higher level of driving safety. Equipped with four NTSC/PAL decoders, the Epson S2D13P04 can be connected to up to four analog cameras and concurrently decode the four video channels. Images from each camera are synchronized to output a digital signal with a stable frame rate to reduce the loads of imaging processing LSI. Also, incorporating four decoders lowers system costs by reducing the total number of necessary system components.
