The new product can easily be added to digital video systems .With a built-in display buffer, high-performance DAC, and high-quality scalar providing bi-cubic input/output scaling, the S1D13771 enables the production of high-quality TV output with low material cost. Production is planned to start from January 2007.A high-quality internal scaling algorithm and complex TV filters allow for VGA resolution input to be stored using a minimum amount of memory, while providing smoothly scaled output to the full resolution specified by either PAL or NTSC standards.

All LCD monitors produced by Samsung Electronics will be LED-based by 2008. Samsung recently introduced an LED-based 20.1-inch LCD monitor SyncMaster XL20 in South Korea. The new Samsung model is set to hit Europe and the US in November and December, respectively. Samsung also plans to launch a 24-inch LED-based LCD monitor in 2007. The LED-based 20.1-inch LCD monitor SyncMaster XL20 features a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, brightness of 250 cd/m2, response time of 8ms, viewing angle of 178 degrees and has a color gamut of 114%. Samsung will start offering the 20.1-inch LED-based monitor in Japan in the second half of November at a price tag of 158,000 yen (US$1,333).

Fujitsu has said a defective Sony-made battery pack sent off sparks in one of its laptop for the first time, amid a global recall of similar batteries. The user of the laptop suffered a slight burn on the hand, in the incident in Japan on Tuesday. This was the first such incident in Japan. Fujitsu was in the process of replacing 51,000 Sony-made battery packs in addition to 287,000 already recalled. As many as 9.6 million Sony-made lithium-ion batteries are being recalled by a host of computer manufacturers. Fujitsu and Sony jointly investigated the latest incident and "reached a common understanding" that the battery pack itself was the cause of the heat and sparks.

The Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea together with KT(Korea Telecom) have unveiled five “robots for the people” and are now starting two months of trial service. One thousand of the robots will be distributed to selected families, and after the inspection of the technology, the electronic helpers will go into normal use next year.The household robot will be able to download KT’s (Korea Telecom) wireless data net. News, weather and home-monitoring is available from all the robots. Some of the robots are also units capable of reading stories to the children and teaching them songs or English conversation. A group of 20 robots developed separately will be dispatched to Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station to provide transport and tourist information
