Well try this vintage type tube radio and be your own guest. Only problem is that this radio is available in Japan only. Fujitsu's PalmSecure Biometric Palm Vein Authentication Deployed by Aderans

fujitsua.jpg
palmsecure.jpgFujitsu Limited today announced that Aderans Co., Ltd., a major Japanese hair care company, will deploy Fujitsu's PalmSecure contactless biometric palm vein authentication system for the PC log-in system for computers used by staff at Aderans branches throughout Japan. At Aderans, due to the fact that the company's internal information system handles sensitive customer data, the company sought advanced high-level security measures for system log-in, beyond merely employee IDs and passwords. In addition, because the system would be accessed from the Aderans 172 branches throughout Japan by roughly 2000 employees who use various products - such as shampoos, hair regeneration formulas, and other liquid hair care products - that can affect the skin condition of their hands in their daily work with customers, the company required a biometric authentication system that would function properly well with minimal impact from temperatures or the condition of the skin of employee's hands. Thus, Aderans chose to deploy a PC log-in system that uses Fujitsu's PalmSecure, which offers advanced biometric security, with minimal impact from various skin conditions of hands.

SAMSUNG Electronics Develops 16-Chip Multi-Stack Package Technology

061101.jpg
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has developed the industry's first process to enable innovative production of a 16-chip multi-chip package (MCP) of memory. The new MCP technology supports the industry-wide demand for small form factors and high-densities that will accommodate multimedia-intensive user applications. Samsung's new 16-chip MCP technology, when applied to 8 GB NAND flash chips, can enable up to a 16 gigabyte (GB) MCP solution. For the new 16-chip process, Samsung introduced wafer-thinning technology that eliminates 24 over 25 (24/25) of the thickness of each fabricated-wafer to reduce the overall thickness to only 30-micrometers (㎛). This is just 65 percent the thickness of the 10-chip MCP wafer (45㎛) Samsung developed in 2005 and similar to the size a human cell, which measures 20 to 30㎛. Samsung also developed a new laser-cutting technology to cut the wafer into individual chips.

OKI Launches Face Sensing Engine Ver3.0 for Embedded Systems

oki.jpg
Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. announced the development of "Face Sensing Engine (FSE) Ver3.0," a middleware for embedded systems. OKI adds a new function that can detect several faces from a data of a single photo and can verify specific faces, providing industry-leading processing performance. Photos taken by mobile phones are usually stored based on the date and time the particular photo was taken, which makes it difficult to sort them and search among them. With OKI's FSE ver.3.0, photos are automatically stored according to who is in the photo, enabling easier access to the photo. When taking a photo using the FSE Ver3.0, it can capture several faces simultaneously. OKI succeeded in detecting within the photo data, areas with similar brightness distribution and structural patterns, thus enabling the detection of a number of faces in a shorter period of time. Once it detects the face, FSE Ver.3.0 verifies the data by comparing it to registered data, which only takes 0.4 seconds, a top-class process performance in the industry. When the photo is taken, an application using the engine automatically stores the photo based on who is in the photo.
