General Motors Corp is the world's biggest automaker in 2007!: Toyota narrowly failed to dethrone U.S. rival General Motors Corp. as the world's biggest automaker in 2007, according to annual sales data released by GM on Wednesday. GM said that its global sales in 2007 totaled a preliminary 9,369,524 units, up 270,000 units from the previous year. Toyota’s sales, including sales at its subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd totaled 9,366,000 units, up 570,000 from the previous year. GM's sales exceeded Toyota's only by about 3,500 units, keeping the U.S. automaker in the top position for 77 straight years, with robust sales in such emerging auto markets as Latin American countries and Russia more than offsetting sluggish sales in the North American market.

Last.fm Internet jukebox offer songs of your choice free to listen: Music website Last.fm on Wednesday launched an ad-based online service that lets people listen for free to songs of their choosing. The ability to dip into a uniquely broad catalogue from your laptop, home or office computer, and listen to whatever you want for free represents a new way of consuming music. Last.fm, which was bought in May of last year by US entertainment powerhouse CBS Corp., offers the service in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany and promised to roll it out globally in coming months. Last.fm limits to three the number of times any listener can play a particular song, referring them on the fourth try to iTunes, Amazon or another online music seller to buy the work. Last.fm claims it is the first music website to offer free, global, on-demand access to an extensive catalogue of songs from the four major record labels - Universal Music Group, Sony/BMG, Warner and EMI.

Get ready to travel into space in Spaceship Two!: British billionaire Richard Branson and the a weightlessness erospace designer Burt Rutan unveiled a model of SpaceShipTwo, which will make it possible for the rich to travel into space within a few years in a craft that looks like a cross between a corporate jet and something out of science fiction. The vehicle they hope will be able to take passengers about 62 miles (99.8km) above Earth for the fun of it, with test flights possibly beginning this year. The spacecraft, with short wings, a pair of rotating tails and plenty of 18-inch portholes, would then separate from the plane and rocket into space -- where as many as six passengers and two crew members could unbuckle themselves for a little while and experience weightlessness and an unparalleled view before gliding back to Earth. Passengers would get about 4 1/2 minutes of zero-gravity time, floating about a cabin roughly the size of a private jet with the floor removed, before buckling themselves back in for the descent. The seats in the craft will lay passengers nearly flat to put less stress on their bodies and give them more room to float while they are in space.
