NEC LCD Technologies launches new 7” LCD Module with WVGA resolution
NEC_LCD.jpg NEC LCD Technologies today introduced a new 7.0-inch amorphous-silicon thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display module, part number NL8048BC19-02, with wide video graphics array (WVGA) resolution. The new module is an enhancement to NEC's lineup of LCD modules featuring white LED backlight systems that was launched May 2007. Equipped with a long-life (approximately fifty thousand hours) white LED as the light source for its backlight system, the new NEC 7.0-inch module has a longer life span than modules equipped with conventional white LED backlight systems. In addition to its low power consumption, the new NEC module comes in a slim-line package. The risk of damage to an LCD due to shock and vibration is small compared to a CCFL with a glass tube structure, because the white LED is face mounted, making the module small, light and more reliable.

Oldest known audio was recorded 17 years earlier than Thomas Edison invented the phonograph!
Thomas-Edison_Phonogram.jpg U.S. scientists have found the oldest-known audio, a French inventor's historic 1860 recording of a folk song, 17 years earlier than Thomas Edison invented the phonograph, media reported Friday. It was made on April 9, 1860, by Parisian inventor Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville on a device called the phonautograph that scratched sound waves onto a sheet of paper blackened by the smoke of an oil lamp, Giovannoni said. Lasting 10 seconds, the recording is of a person singing "Au clair de la lune, Pierrot repondit" ("By the light of the moon, Pierrot replied") -- part of a French song, according to First Sounds, a group of audio historians, recording engineers, sound archivists and others dedicated to preserving humankind's earliest sound recordings.
