- Samsung MLC based 128GB solid state drives enters in Volume Production
Samsung has begun mass producing 1.8- and 2.5-inch multi-level cell (MLC)-based solid state drives (SSD) with a 128 GB storage capacity. Mass production of the Samsung MLC-based 64GB SSD also began this month. Samsung SSDs feature far greater reliability, faster boot times and faster application start-up times than hard disk drives. Power consumption for the Samsung SSD is exceptionally low in standby mode at approximately 0.2 watts and in active mode at 0.5 watts. Featuring a 3.0 gigabit-per-second interface, the 128GB MLC-based SSD consists of 64 MLC NAND flash memory chips of 16 gigabits each, optimized single-chip controller technology and advanced flash-management firmware technology.

The world's first iPhone 3G buyer is a student in New Zealand. Gladwell held his place in line in the city of Auckland for 60 hours, motivated by the urgings of friends who said they would cover the cost of the gadget--and who supplied an exercise bike and a masseuse.

- Apple fans camp out two days before the launch of Apple iPhone in Tokyo!
More than 30 people lined up on Wednesday in front of Softbank Mobile Corp’s flagship store in Harajuku, two days before the nationwide launch of Apple Inc’s iPhone. The iPhone will go on sale at this store at 7 a.m. on Friday, five hours earlier than any other Softbank store in Japan. The iPhone 3G, which Apple is billing as twice as fast and half as expensive as the debut model, will roll out in cities from Tokyo to Sydney on Friday. When the iPhone 3G goes on sale worldwide Friday, Japan will be among the first countries to have it, following New Zealand and then Australia. Lines are starting to form in other countries as well, with the New Zealand Herald reporting Wednesday about a man who began camping out Tuesday night in an attempt to become the first person in the world to own the latest iPhone.

Powered by a Liquefied Petroleum Injected (LPI) Gamma engine displacing 1.6 litres, a 15kW electric motor and a continuously variable transmission, the Elantra LPI HEV is a mild–type hybrid capable of delivering a competitive fuel economy rating.
