Niue becomes the first country in the world to have 100 percent saturation of laptop per child

The South Pacific tiny nation of Niue created history on Thursday with the launch of the one laptop per child (OLPC) initiative, becoming the first country in the world to have 100 percent saturation of laptop per child. Five hundred students of both Niue primary and high schools have been presented with free laptops. Under the one laptop per child initiative, the Pacific has been earmarked 5,000 laptops, 500 of which have been gifted to Niue. The laptop costs approximately $200.

NEC has begun sample shipments of its new device wire adapter LSI chip, uPD720180A, which enables wireless communication between a Wireless USB-compatible personal computer or other Wireless USB host system, and printers, digital home appliances, and other devices supporting USB 2.0.The primary feature of the NEC uPD720180A DWA chip is that in addition to the conventional frequency range of 3 to 5 gigahertz (GHz), it also supports the 5- to 10-GHz range.
