- WD Second-Generation Green Hard Drives with 32 MB cache
Western Digital announced the second-generation of its highly popular and environmentally friendly WD Caviar Green desktop hard drives, which feature the company's GreenPower technology to significantly reduce power consumption, compared with standard hard drives. The new platform is based on WD's 333 GB/platter technology with 32 MB cache, producing capacities ranging from 500 GB to 1 TB1. WD's latest WD Caviar Green hard drives consume up to 20 percent less power and offer a 10 percent increase in performance over the previous version2, while continuing to provide the market with hard drives enabling quieter and cooler-running desktop PCs and external storage devices.

- Honda Insight dedicated hybrid concept vehicle at Paris Motor Show
Honda presented the concept model of its all-new Insight dedicated hybrid vehicle scheduled to be introduced in 2009, at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The all-new Honda Insight, which will be developed based on this Insight Concept, will be a five-door, five-passenger hatchback equipped with Honda’s lightweight and compact hybrid system, with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine serving as the main power source, assisted by an electric motor. While achieving fuel economy on par with the Civic Hybrid, the new Insight will also achieve excellent utility and light and comfortable driving through the adoption of a new platform developed specifically for this vehicle. Honda will begin sales of the all-new Insight in Japan, Europe and North America in spring 2009, and projects annual global sales of 200,000 units.

Designer Kouichi Okamoto, who works under the brand name Kyouei, continues to delight with his latest creation, the Bulb Lantern, a fun take on the traditional Japanese lantern. The Bulb Lantern lights are made from traditional Japanese paper lanterns and industrial hose to mimic a light bulb. They are even printed with text to mimic the real thing and customized for the design boom mart. Originally created for Designboom Mart, the sales bazaar at the 2008 Stockholm Furniture Fair, Okamoto's new product is out now. Like Italian designer Ingo Maurer, who made a plastic lamp in the shape of a light bulb, Okamoto produces a visual pun that uses the familiar outline of an everyday bulb.
