Sapporo White Illumination is a big event which marks the coming of the snow season in the capital city of Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido. Started in 1981, Sapporo White Illumination features romantic, artistic collaboration of nature and light after dark in the northern region, usually with the background of the white snow. Trees or objets d’art in Odori or main downtown areas light up the surroundings, making the snow-world even more mysterious and fascinating.

A Korean team has independently developed and tested a small unmanned lunar module. The lunar module can travel to the moon from the earth's orbit and land on the moon's surface with its own engine propulsion. The Korean lunar module measures 40 cm by 40 cm and consists of a propulsion engine and a control system. It can land on the moon's surface using its four legs. The engine also reduces the speed for the moon landing.

- Korea Fourth in the world to develop 300km/h High Speed Train

- Los Angeles mayor announces world’s largest solar energy plan
Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa unveiled an ambitious plan for installing solar panels on residents' rooftops to meet 10 percent of the city's energy needs by the year 2020.The energy plan, Solar LA, is expected to cost each Los Angeles resident an additional 2 dollars a month once it is complete. Details of the plan, including a cost estimate, will come up over the next 90 days. The framework of the plan calls for 380 megawatts of power to be generated from solar panels installed on residents' rooftops and through the SunShares Program, which would allow customers to purchase shares of a city solar power plant in exchange for credits on their energy bills. Another 500 megawatts of energy would come from utility-scale solar power projects that would feed into two transmission stations run by the city's Department of Water and Power.

- Kokuyo workers work on the rooftop of its headquarters to reduce CO2 emissions!
Japanese office supplies manufacturer Kokuyo opened a garden office on the rooftop of its headquarters in Tokyo on Thursday in a bid to cut back on electricity consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. With this innovative step, Kokuyo aims to reduce its overall CO2 emissions by 56 tons a year, about 10 percent of it through the garden office. The company feels workers will be able to work more efficiently in a natural environment. About 140 employees are expected to work in the garden office for 90 days a year -- about a third of their annual work days. The rooftop office uses latest energy saving devices such as sensors, LED lights etc.

- Honda reveals FC Sport-a hydrogen-powered three-seat sports car concept
Honda revealed the Honda FC Sport design study model, a hydrogen-powered, three-seat sports car concept, at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Honda FC Sport emphasizes the design flexibility and potential of Honda’s V Flow fuel cell technology – already deployed in the Honda FCX Clarity sedan – and reconfigures it into a lightweight sports car design with an ultra-low center of gravity, powerful electric motor performance and zero-emissions. The high-output Honda fuel cell powertrain and a sleek, aerodynamic body contribute to the vehicle’s performance potential. The optimal placement of fuel cell components for performance also allows for a relatively large passenger cabin by conventional supercar standards with enough space for three seating positions. The interior layout focuses primarily on the driver with a racecar-like center driving position. The enclosed canopy opens upward from the rear to allow for entry and exit. Two rear passenger seats flank the driver’s left and right side.
