Safest breast cancer check-up process takes a mere 30 seconds!: Scientists in Korea have developed a new diagnostic machine for the detection of breast cancer that promises to be more accurate, comfortable, non-invasive, and most of all safer than any other imaging tool currently in use, such as X-ray, MRI and PET machines. This state-of-the-art system, called Breast Cancer Spectrum Tomography, or BCST, distinguishes normal tissue from cancerous growths by measuring the permittivity of cells -- in other words, their response to electric fields. One of the best features of this diagnostic machine is that it isn't harmful to one's body, unlike X-ray mammograms which can expose a patient to large doses of radiation. Sony Launches High-power Long-life Lithium Ion Secondary Battery: Sony has launched a new type of lithium ion secondary battery that combines high-power and long-life performance, using olivine-type lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. The Olivine-type lithium iron phosphate used in this new battery is extremely suited for use as a cathode material due to its robust crystal structure and stable performance, even at high temperatures. This new battery can be charged to 99% of its full capacity in 30 minutes, which represents approximately half the charge time of Sony's current lithium ion battery line-up (G-series, A-series), which mainly use cobalt oxide based cathodes.

Genetically engineered pig clones with organs designed for human transplants produced in Korea: Korean Scientists participating in a government-backed biotechnology project has produced genetically engineered pig clones with organs designed for human transplants. A research team led by Chung Nam University's Jin Dong-il and local bio-tech firm Mgen said that their cloned piglet, born on May 11, has been genetically altered to have the fas ligand (FasL) protein, which plays an important role in regulating the human immune system. Organs from FasL-expressing pigs could have a lesser risk of rejection when transplanted into humans.

LG launches HD TV with 240 hertz refresh rate for Korean market: LG launched its newest high-definition television (HDTV) to South Korean consumers on Tuesday, which includes features designed to improve the quality of fast-moving scenes.
