The two-seater lightweight PU_PA electric vehicle weighs just 437 kilograms, about half that of rival electric vehicles. Carbon-fiber materials developed by Teijin, at one-fifth the weight of steel but 10 times stronger, is used for the vehicle body. Special plastics are used for the windows.

NTT Docomo launches Experia smartphone to challenge Apple iPhone marketed by Softbank in Japan

Toshiba Wins Major Order for Locomotives from Hyundai Rotem
electric_locomotive.jpg Toshiba has won a major contract from South Korea's Hyundai Rotem for supply of key electrical equipment and systems for electric locomotives for Korean Railroad Corporation (Korail). The contract covers traction drive systems and auxiliary power supply systems for 56 6,600kW electric freight locomotives. Delivery of the equipment will start in May 2011 and continue through to April of 2012, under a contract with a value of more than 10 billion yen ($108 million).
