Panasonic has successfully developed a 60GHz multi-gigabit wireless communication technology that is optimized for mobile devices, and supports the WiGig specification and/or the IEEE802.11ad draft specification. This multi-gigabit wireless communication technology consists of a 60GHz transceiver and a baseband processor which are integrated individually onto a CMOS semiconductor chips through circuit technologies optimized for mobile devices. The technology enables multi-gigabit wireless communication of more than 20 times faster than existing wireless LANs using the 60GHz frequency band, and through the optimization of both the transceiver core and peripheral circuits, it also enables lower than 1W low-power, multi-gigabit wireless communication in the future.
Fujitsu today announced the development of the world's first biometric authentication technology that combines data on palm vein patterns with fingerprint data from three fingers. By employing both palm vein pattern and fingerprint data, the technology enables the rapid identification of a given individual out of data from a million people, processing the match within two seconds. Fujitsu developed technology uses parallel processing for authentication. Because it is possible to increase or decrease the number of servers used in authentication processing depending on the size of the pool of potential matches, it is well-suited to cloud-based environments.
TDK has started mass production of worlds first, a newly developed see-through passive matrix type QVGA organic EL display (product name: UEL476) from this spring. All organic EL displays from TDK employ the passive matrix principle. The newly developed see-through type is mainly intended for use as the main display panel in mobile phones and other mobile devices. The see-through type organic EL display for mobile applications has a field angle of 2.4 inches, transmittance of 40 percent, and brightness of 150 cd/m2. The newly developed product is a see-through type, but is constructed so that the display contents cannot easily be seen from behind, to protect the user's privacy.
