Following the publishing of ISO 50001 standard for energy management by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on June 15, AUO announced that its G8.5 facility in Central Taiwan Science Park has passed ISO 50001 standard for energy management. AUO is the first manufacturer in the world, as well the first company in Taiwan, to have obtained this certification. Meanwhile, AUO's TV module plant in Suzhou, China has also passed the evaluation. AUO's next step is to apply this energy management system to all its global production sites.
ULVAC has developed and launched a battery charging system for power-assisted bicycles by integrating a small wind power generator and a solar power generator, as renewable energy sources, and a battery charger in Japan.. ULVAC will be installed the power-assisted bicycle charging station, named the “Hybrid Cycle Pit,” beside the baseball field in Chigasaki City Park. Chigasaki City will put the charging station into service in July 10, 2011. The newly installed power-assisted bicycle charging system is composed of a 1.6 kW solar power generator, a small 1.0 kW wind power generator (upwind, horizontal axis, propeller type), a battery pack containing a lithium-ion secondary battery, a charging and discharging control system, and a battery charger. The solar power generator has eight solar cell modules on the canopy of the battery charger in which bicycles are placed. With the ability to generate power from both solar and wind energy, and to store power in the secondary battery, this system enables stable charging of batteries for power-assisted bicycles with clean power.
Mitsubishi Electric announced today new 600V/800A intelligent power module (IPM) V1 Series for 37kW-class servo systems and 75kW-class inverter systems. V1 Series IPMs are single packages of multiple chips, including power chips using insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) and their driving circuits, as well as a variety of protection circuits. V1 Series IPMs are compliant with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) for electrical and electronic equipment. Sales will begin on June 30, 2011.
Toyota will invest about 4.9 billion Yen ($60.57 million) to increase its vehicle production capacity in India by 40 percent in 2012 to meet growing demand in the country. Toyota on Monday launched the much awaited compact hatchback – Toyota Etios Liva in the Indian market. The Liva hatchback borrows a number of styling and designing cues from Toyota Etios sedan, which was launched in India in December 2010. The Liva hatchback comes equipped with 1197cc petrol engine which is capable of generating a peak power of 80 PS at 5600 rpm along with a peak torque of 104Nm at 3100 rpm. The Toyota Etios Liva is claimed to be offering an exceptional mileage of 18.31 kmpl.

NTT DoCoMo will become Japan’s first mobile operator to offer a convenient mobile service for overseas remittances, including phone-to-phone money transfers to the Philippines, when it launches DoCoMo Money Transfer on July 7. Remittances to the Philippines will be possible from i-mode-compatible DoCoMo phones to SMART Money, a reloadable payment card operated by Smart Communications. Beneficiaries will be able to confirm receipt promptly by accessing their SMART Money card via a Smart mobile phone.
