Sharp has developed a 12.1-Megapixel, 1/3.2-inch CMOS camera module with optical image stabilization that features the industry’s thinnest profile (5.47 mm in height). The new Sharp RJ63YC100 is intended for use in mobile devices such as smartphones.The new module’s thin profile has been developed in response to the demand for portable mobile devices with ever more slender designs. The module also addresses the need for embedded cameras in these devices to deliver superior image quality and camera functionality, including connectivity to AV equipment and personal computers.The optical image stabilizer in this camera module uses a lens-shift system to control the lens inside the module.
Fujifilm today announced the launch of the next-generation inkjet digital press Jet Press 720 for the Japanese market. Fujifilm Jet Press 720 is the first printer in the world that achieves high-speed printing with 4-level grayscale at 1200dpi on B2 sized sheet (maximum paper size: 750mm x 530mm), delivering image quality exceeding offset printing. Such high performance is achieved through the single-pass system, in which a printhead is aligned in straight line to increase the print width so that printing completes in one pass of a printhead.
Hyundai launched the newest version of its Universe luxury bus for Japanese Market at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show, a year after the company first entered Japan’s coach market with advanced vehicles satisfying Japan’s latest emissions standards. Universe, which is powered by Hyundai’s proprietary Powertec engine, receives an exterior makeover, with front and rear spoilers highlighting the changes. Hyundai Universe has been tailored to satisfy the needs of Japanese customers, meeting the highest comfort and safety standards. LG today extended its glasses-free 3D monitor lineup with the 25-inch DX2500, which incorporates glasses-free parallax barrier 3D and head-tracking technologies. With the DX2500, LG becomes the first in the industry to receive TÜV Rheinland certification for a glasses-free 3D monitor. For optimal viewing of 3D images, existing glasses-free 3D products generally require viewers to stay within a tightly restricted angle and distance. However, the LG DX2500 has removed this restriction with the parallax barrier 3D and head-tracking technologies, allowing viewers greater freedom of movement, enabling a more comfortable user experience.
A China Eastern Airlines passenger aircraft with 240 people onboard took off from the Kansai international airport in Japan even when told by the control tower to wait on the runway. Japanese authorities are now investigating the apparently hazardous take-off by the Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines plane. The Japanese air traffic authority wants to find out why the China Eastern Airlines passenger aircraft took off Monday ignoring the order to stay on the runway at the Kansai international airport located on an artificial island in the middle of Osaka Bay.

Mazda facelifted Demio compact car (known overseas as the Mazda2) with the SKYACTIV-G 1.3 gasoline engine, together with its development team, has received the 2011-2012 Car Technology of the Year award from the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame (JAHFA). The Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV was launched in Japan in June 2011. The result was announced today by JAHFA, a registered nonprofit organization based in Tokyo. The Mazda Demio 13-SKYACTIV was recognized for the following points: Advanced combustion characteristics that were developed through comprehensive analysis of the internal combustion engine, improved driving performance and improved value-for-money and best balance of pleasing driving and environmental concern. Toyota today launched the Pixis Van and Pixis Truck in Japan. The two vehicles are the first commercial minivehicles to be launched under the Toyota brand and will be sold through more than 200 Toyota dealers nationwide. Both the Toyota Pixis Van and Pixis Truck were designed for practical, commercial use, while also providing easy operation and superior environmental performance. Both Toyota Pixis Van and Pixis Truck are fitted with 660cc gasoline engines that offer excellent practicality and fuel efficiency. The vehicles achieve superior environmental performance and conform to Japanese 2007 exhaust emission standards under the Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT).
South Korea on Wednesday unveiled its latest unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is the worlds fastest and also the world's first remote-controlled aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically. The aircraft has tilt rotors, meaning its rotary wings tilt, giving it a helicopter-like capability to vertically take off and land when its wings are facing upward, and the speed and operation range of a jet when its wings are tilted forward, according to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. There is only one other aircraft with tilt-rotors in the world, which is the V-22 Osprey used by the U.S. Marine Corp.
Nissan today announced that it is commencing sales of its new quick charger on November 30 at Nissan parts companies throughout Japan. The newly-developed quick charging unit retains the high performance of the current quick charger manufactured by Nissan, but is nearly half the size (by volume). It offers many safety features for safe charging, such as monitoring against a potential short circuit when the charging unit is interfacing with the EV. It is compatible with Nissan EVs as well as EVs manufactured by other companies. The new charger unit's smaller size will take up less space and enable easier installation.
Toshiba is to shut three semiconductor factories in Japan as part of a reorganization of its business, as it grapples with falling profits. Toshiba said the closure of the facilities would mean moving production to three other existing factories, allowing the company to strengthen cost competitiveness and focus on higher value added products. Toshiba last month announced net profit in the six months to September had dropped 18.5%, mainly due to a strong yen and the impact of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, which savaged production and distribution lines.
