Kyocera supplies additional 10MW of Solar Modules for 2nd Phase of 16MW Solar Park in Italy: Kyocera has recently delivered an additional 10 megawatts (MW) of solar modules to an existing 6MW installation near Turin, Italy — which the company supplied modules for earlier this year. The additional 10MW is distributed equally between the Lotti and Petiva sites — with 20,640 Kyocera modules installed at each of the two plants. Owing to its high efficiency and ability to reduce the amount of time and materials required for installation, the 60-cell module used for these two new plants is particularly suitable for industrial and utility-scale solar projects.

Worlds First Successful Demonstration of Multi-Vendor Equipment Interoperability in Transmitting 100 Gigabit Ethernet Signals over an Optical Network: Fujitsu NEC and Anritsu today jointly announced that, in field tests, for the first time in the world they successfully demonstrated interoperability testing for optical network interface technology allowing telecommunications carriers to connect to each other at 100 Gigabit-class speeds, some 2.5- to 10-times faster than current speeds. Accordingly, this is the first time in the world that the transmission of 100 Gbps Ethernet signals over multiple optical networks using equipment from multiple vendors has been successfully demonstrated.

Murata starts mass production of World's Thinnest Waterproof Piezoelectric Speakers: Murata has developed the world's thinnest type waterproof piezoelectric speaker with improved sound quality and has started its mass-production (One million units per month). Mitsubishi Motors Develops New Eco-friendly Floor Mats Using Plant-based Fibers: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), working with Eidaikako, MRC Pylen and Toyota Tsusho has developed a new floor mat made using plant-based bio-polyethylene (bio-PE) fiber to add to its lineup of proprietary plant-based Green Plastic products. Bio-PE is a plant-based resin made using sugarcane molasses (a thick syrup produced in the refining of raw sugar). The company has developed the bio-PE fiber for use in floor mat piling with an eye toward reducing usage of petroleum-based plastics and cutting CO2 emissions. As opposed to conventional petroleum-based floor mats, the fiber in this new floor mat has a core-sheath structure in which the bio-PE core is covered with conventional petroleum-based polypropylene (PP) sheath which allows it to meet the high levels of performance demanded of car floor mats, including abrasion and heat resistance.
