Five hundred students of both Niue primary and high schools have been presented with free laptops. Under the one laptop per child initiative, the Pacific has been earmarked 5,000 laptops, 500 of which have been gifted to Niue. The laptop costs approximately $200.

Niue is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. Niue is located 2,400 kilometres northeast of New Zealand in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. The Niuean language and the English language are both taught in schools and used in day-to-day business and communications. The people are predominantly Polynesian.
