Sharp 5-megapixel CCD camera module for mobile phones
Sharp Corp. Japan has released the “LZ0P3770″ 5-megapixel CCD camera module for mobile phones. The module features the worlds first 3x optical linear zoom with auto focus. The new camera module LZ0P3770 also realizes auto focus, smear-reduction mechanical shutter and other functionalities comparable to those of real digital cameras, along with the optical zoom. The module is easy to install and employs a hybrid lens (glass and plastic) to boost refraction. The module measures only 21.7 mm. 22.0mm × 11.3mm × 21.7mm.
Pricing for the sample is ¥20,000($172). Volume production of Sharp’s 5-megapixel CCD camera module for mobile phones is slated to start in January 2007. Sharp plans an initial output of 50,000 units per month.
