    Record 10,000 tweets per second in the final three minutes of the Super Bowl XLVI


    Twitter said users were firing off a record 10,000 tweets per second in the final three minutes of the Super Bowl. Madonna’s half-time performance during the New York Giants 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots also saw a surge in Twitter activity with users tapping out an average of 8,000 tweets per second for five minutes, the San Francisco-based short-messaging service said on its Twitter feed. Sunday’s 21-17 victory over New England at Lucas Oil Stadium made the Giants the first 9-7 team in NFL history to win a Super BowlXLVI.

    Nintendo expected to lose 65 billion Yen this year


    Nintendo is expected to lose 65 billion yen ($840 million) this year, more than three times the amount it had earlier predicted due to the strong yen and price cuts. The Kyoto-based firm also downgraded its annual sales forecast to 660 billion yen ($8.53 billion) for the year to March, from an earlier forecast of 790 billion yen ($10.21 billion). Nintendo in August cut the price of its 3DS console from 25,000 yen ($323) to 15,000 yen ($193) in Japan, followed by similar cuts in foreign markets to boost unit sales going into the key Christmas season.

    Internet addiction affects Korean Kid’s Intelligence


    One out of every 10 Korean youngsters is addicted to the Internet and displays poorer comprehension, literacy and numeracy skills than peers who are not hooked, a recent study suggests. A team of mental health specialists led by Kim Dai-jin and Park Min-hyeon of Catholic University St. Mary’s Hospital in Seoul tested 389 high school students and 253 female junior high school students in Seoul to screen them for Internet addiction. The study found that 9.5 percent (61) were addicted. Korean youngsters became addicted to the Internet at the average age of 9.72, and 70 percent of those classed as addicts were hooked on online games. The researchers then compared the intelligence levels of 59 addicted youngsters with those of 43 who were not hooked.
