NEC announced today the NP41 and NP61 digital projectors, designed with features to enable simple use in corporate and educational environments. The lightweight automatic NEC NP41 and NP61 provide bright (2300 and 3000 lumens) and colorful images while remaining quiet in operation (32dB in ECO Mode). Their quickstart and quick-cooling features minimize setup and teardown times between meetings, and their automatic focus instantly provides a sharp detailed image. The NP41 and NP61 automatically detect the source and project the image with auto input selection, while their AutoSense feature intuitively syncs the
projector with most computer signals and features one-touch image optimization.
NEC Electronics has developed the world's first single-chip LSI to integrate the main functions of Blu-ray Disc players. All of the main functions required for Blu-ray Disc players are included on the new NEC chip EMMA3PF including the digital conversion of analog data read from optical discs, the digital decoding of encoded images and sounds and a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) for output to televisions. The NEC EMMATM 3PF allows users to create compact, high performance Blu-ray Disc players and reduce the size of future Blu-ray Disc players.
Samsung on Sunday launched the Armani Pavv television, a product of Samsungs collaboration with the Italian design star. Samsung released a 46-inch and 52-inch TV designed by Giorgio Armani himself.
After an enthusiastic response from consumers since the TV made its debut at the Milan Furniture Fair in April, the company decided to launch the TV in Korea. The Armani Pavv television sports a technology dubbed “Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz,” which reduces motion blur for twice the definition of normal HD TVs, and Infolink RSS, which connects it to the Internet.
Nippon Signal, Japan exhibited an SVGA (resolution: 800 x 600) compact color projector that is as small as a cigarette case at Exhibition Micromachine/MEMS. Nippon Signal exhibited a prototype with the same resolution at the previous exhibition, but it was about the size of a lunch box (approximately 180 x 120 x 50mm). This time, the company reduced the size of the projector to about 1/8 (90 x 55 x 20mm) by reducing the size of the optical system such as lenses and the MEMS scanner that scans laser light beams in RGB colors. In addition to the size reduction, the quality of displayed images was significantly improved. The new projector used the semiconductor laser for the green laser light source, instead of the diode pumping solid state (DPSS) laser, which was used in the previous prototype. The adoption of semiconductor laser eliminated the need for an acoustic optical modulator (AOM), which was used along with DPSS, because the semiconductor laser light can be modulated by itself at a high speed.

Recruit Co Ltd (a human resources and classifieds company in Japan) is delivering advertising videos for the cafes and restaurants in the underground mall of Tokyo Station by using the Scent-emitting LCD Display System. The system, developed by NTT Communications Corp (a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation) emits appetizing aromas along with the advertising videos shown on a 42-inch LCD display. In front of the LCD display, there are coupon books that can be used at the restaurants advertised in the videos. So, the purpose of the system is to attract people by videos and scents, and to make them grab a copy of the coupon books. This experiment is being conducted to verify the system's effect of drawing customers.
LG Display announced on Sunday that it will cut LCD output by 10 percent by August and joined the global trend among liquid crystal display panel manufacturers of scaling down production. Taiwanese LCD makers CPT, CMO and AUO have led the production cuts in recent days as IT firms are reducing LCD panel orders on low demand in the second half, which is lowering panel prices. An LG Display official cited concerns about excess supply in July and the summer slow season in August in North America and Europe. He said the decision is in line with the company's principle of flexibility in addressing global market situations.
Kyocera is soon to offer two 5.7" LC-Displays that feature transflective technology. These displays proportionally reflect most of the ambient light, using it as a light source. This saves energy and makes possible industrial use of the displays in direct sunlight. The brilliant colours and outstanding contrast usual for Kyocera LCDs make these two screens truly stand out. Both displays are available with a conventional touch panel or Kyocera's new glass touch panel technology. As a result, their suitability for use in mobile devices – for example, in production, measurement technology or medicine – is outstanding. The LC-Display also offer long life LEDs and – thanks to the DC-DC converter integrated in the reverse circuit board – only require one power source. Users can choose between voltages of 3.3 V or 5.0 V.
