LG Commence Mass Production of TV Panels from 8th Generation LCD Plant in Korea

LG_8th_generation.jpg LG has commenced mass production of its 8th generation LCD from plant in Paju, Korea on March 9, 2009. The 8th generation LCD line will primarily manufacture 32-, 47- and 55- inch TV panels from its 2,200 X 2,500㎜ glass substrates. With initial monthly capacity of 20,000 input sheets of glass substrate, LG Display will adjust the ramp-up speed according to market circumstances and gradually increase monthly capacity to design capacity of 83,000 sheets by the end of the year.

LG Display invested KRW2, 535 billion in the line, excluding the building cost. The start of mass production in the 8th generation plant will enable LG Display to actively respond to growing market demand further stimulated by narrowed price gap between LCD TV and CRT TV.
