Japan’s first banana vending machine has been installed in Shibuya, near the Hanzomon Line gate. Dole, the world’s largest producer and marketer of high-quality fresh fruit and fresh vegetables says the bananas have sold out every single day since the machine’s debut on June 23. The cost is 130 yen( $1.45) for a single banana and 390 yen ($4.43) for a 600-gram bunch containing four to five pieces of fruit. Dole says it plans to sell other fruit products in vending machines in locations like universities and office buildings.
