Now Samsung Sues Sharp for LCD Patent Infringement

samsung_lcd-tv.jpg Samsung has lodged a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Sharp claiming that the Japanese electronics maker infringes on its liquid crystal display patents. Samsung alleges that Sharp's products, including Aquos-brand LCD television sets and cellular phones with LCD panels, infringe on its patents for such technologies as wide viewing angles and panel miniaturization, and demands Sharp stop imports and sales of the products.

Samsung apparently countered Sharp's LCD patent infringement suit filed in August with U.S. District Court in Texas against the South Korean maker. Sharp and Samsung are in similar litigation in Japan. Samsung captures the top share in the global LCD TV market and is followed by Sharp and Sony Corp.
