Sony sells 130,000 units of new PlayStation Portable on the first day in Japan

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. sold 130,000 of its updated PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming devices upon their release in Japan on Thursday. The new PlayStation Portable looks very similar to the old model but is slimmer, lighter, and comes with a video-out port for watching content on TVs.

The new PSP will cost $170 in the US and will be released in September.
